The Hyperloop

Loop-Of-Introduction !

The finest mode of transportation having hypersonic speeds to deliver people from one place to another within a few hours or minutes also can be called the vactrain as it is based upon vacuum technology. It is a system of tubes that ultimately helps in the transfer of the pod without air friction resisting its speed.

It is energy efficient asset in comparison to other existing high-speed mediums.

Officially it was publicized in 2012 by Elon musk. the methodology incorporated reduced-pressure tubes and along with linear induction motors and axial compressors. Proposing and testing a route from the Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area,  the pods carry passengers travel through vacuum tubes to reduce friction. The pods can travel at up to 750 miles per hour.

Secondly, despite of using wheels like a train or car, the pods are architected to float on air skis, or use magnetic levitation to reduce friction.  The Hyperloop was thought to be designed as a system that would propel passengers along the 350-mile (560 km) route at a speed of 760 mph (1,200 km/h), a travel time of 35 minutes ease, which is noticeably faster than current rail or air travel times.

The Hyperloop concept has been clearly and precisely “open-sourced” by Musk and SpaceX. SpaceX constructed a 1.6km-long track for its pod design competition at its headquarters in Hawthorne, California. Virgin Hyperloop executed the first human trial with their executives Josh Giegel, the Chief Technology Officer, and Sara Luchian, Director of Passenger Experience to feel the real time journey at a speed of 172 km/h.

The initial velocity from an external linear electric motor, accelerates it to ‘high subsonic velocity and then boosts it every 70 miles or so.

Each capsule can carry 28 passengers (other versions aim to carry up to 40) plus some other commodities of travelers.

Such high-speed assets become successful and worthwhile when the obstructions like dragging air force are defeated by “accuracy in implementation”. The vactrain concept theoretically banish these obstacles by exerting magnetic levitation in trains that work under evacuated (airless) or partly evacuated tubes, overall it reaches the full pelt. However, the expenses of maglev and the difficulty of maintaining a vacuum over large distances have prevented this type of system from ever being built. The Hyperloop bears a resemblance to the vactrain system but works at approximately one millibar (100 Pa) of pressure.

Inceptive conception

The Hyperloop concept functions over the transmission of specially designed “capsules” or “pods” through a steel tube sustained at a partial vacuum. The original concept by musk, that each capsule floats on a 0.02–0.05 in (0.5–1.3 mm) layer of air provided under pressure to air-caster “skis”, similar to how pucks are levitated above an air hockey table, while still permitting higher speeds than wheels can sustain. Hyperloop One’s technology-based upon the passive maglev for the same purpose. Linear induction motors placed along the tube involves in accelerating and decelerating the capsule to the favorable speed for each section of the tube route. Musk’s original Hyperloop contexts tells that an electrically operable inlet fan and axial compressor would be placed at the nose of the capsule to “actively transfer high-pressure air from the front to the rear of the vessel”, resolving the problem of air pressure building in front of the vehicle, slowing it down. Some fraction of the air is moved to the skis for additional pressure, increasing that gain passively from lift due to their shape.

The alpha-level – holds the view of passenger-only pods to be more than 7 ft in diameter and is projected to attain a top speed of 760 mph (1,220 km/h) to maintain aerodynamic efficiency. There’s a legal agreement(Letter of intent) signed with the Indian Government for a suggested route between Chennai and Bengaluru. The distance of 345 km could be covered in 30 minutes.

Some other efforts

HTT(Hyperloop Transportation Technologies) also signed an agreement with Andhra Pradesh government to contrive India’s first Hyperloop project connecting Amaravathi to Vijayawada in a 6-minute ride.in the year 2018, Hyperloop One has entered into Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to build a hyperloop transportation system between Mumbai and Pune that would trim the traveling time from 3 hours to less than 30 mins.

Indore-based Dinclix GroundWorks’ DGWHyperloop promote a Hyperloop corridor between Mumbai and Delhi, via Indore, Kota, and Jaipur. Mars will be a suitable place for the hyperloop as there, no tubes would be required because there the atmosphere is approximately about 1% of the earth’s density at sea level.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) is the first Hyperloop company, with a current workforce of more than 800 engineers and professionals all over the world.

Many students and other teams enrolled and presented how they were all ambitious and to contribute by showcasing in the hyperloop pod competition in the year 2015-2016 and more than 20 of them built the hardware to compete on a sponsored hyperloop test track in the mid of 2016.

In June 2015, SpaceX announced that they would sponsor a hyperloop design for the competitive event in 2016. SpaceX stated in their announcement highlighted that neither SpaceX nor musk is affiliated with any hyperloop company, they were just accelerating and helping in the functional Hyperloop prototype.

The Competitive Dimension

Engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(famously known as MIT) were named the winners of the competition in the design weekend at Texas A&M University, while the University of Washington team won the Safety Subsystem Award, Delft University won the Pod Innovation Award as well as second place, followed by the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Virginia Tech, and the University of California, Irvine.

In the Design Category, the winning team was Hyperloop UPV from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain. In 2017, Delft Hyperloop (Delft University of Technology) won the prize for the “best overall design” at the final stage of the SpaceX Hyperloop competition, while WARR Hyperloop of the Technical University of Munich won the prize for “fastest pod”. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology got third.

WARR Hyperloop from the Technical University of Munich won the competition by reaching a top speed of 324 km/h.

In another SpaceX hyperloop competition, the WARR Hyperloop team from the Technical University of Munich beat their own record with a top speed of 457 km/h.

Again in the subsequent year, the Technical University of Munich won, and the design now known as TUM Hyperloop set the new record of a top speed of 463 km/h.
